Great tour & even better beer!!! I enjoyed myself very much! Laura was a great tour guide!!

Dave was an informative, entertaining host. Our tour was supposed to be 8 persons, but a party of 6 cancelled so we had the tour to ourselves. Dave provided background on how several varieties of craft beer is made, the unique history of each bar we visited, and background on the neighborhood. Spread over 3+ hours, the tour pace was perfect - basically get a tasting flight of three each stop. The establishments visited know Dave well and treat he and his tour guests first rate - you'll find the patrons are equally friendly. If you have ever visited a part of the city and could not decide among many bars and restaurants which to try, Dave gave some great recommendations, even beyond those visited. This organization is passionate about their beer and the neighborhoods they visit. We may ask Dave and Urban Oyster to put together a customized walking tour based on our family's geneaology in the city, next year. Great stuff - try it!

I was part of a group of retired educators who took part in the Brewed in Brooklyn Tour. It proved what we always knew, that learning should be fun. We learned about the Beer industry that flourished in Williamsburg and its role in German immigrant life and about how a "new" beer industry is taking hold to meet today's tastes. At the same time we enjoyed tasting a variety of beers and the food that compliments it at several neighborhood establishments. A worthwhile adventure...knowledgeable guide.... a great way to spend an afternoon.

A tour for New Yorkers and tourists alike! I've lived in NYC for a decade and hands down, it was the best sampling of almost-home cooked authentic food, served piping hot, with a story and a smile. Brian, the Tour Guide, knew all of the vendors by name, how long they've been in business, the secret sauces and the politics of the street vendor industry, in addition to random historical facts about the taverns and cobblestone streets. I am vegetarian and loved the fact that Urban Oyster could cater to my dietary needs. From crisp falafal to Grandma's pizza to korean tacos and wrapping up with the waffles, be sure to go on an empty stomach. There's something for everyone (and probably the best thing about the Financial District!)

We toured the Brooklyn Navy Yard (200 acres!) guided by Cindy, a partner in the Urban Oyster tour company. We had a fascinating two-plus hours, partly walking, partly in a bus, learning about the history of the site, its role in war, in manufacturing, and now in start-up companies and film/TV production. Cindy is very bright and has learned the history well, relating it with good pacing, good sense, and good information----only one brief silly moment, which is a world's record for general-interest tour guides. You will probably be as amazed as we were to learn about what is there, was there, when, and why. The NavyYard has a small, very well done museum suited to visitors of many ages (I'd say from 8 up) and a cafe offering interesting views from the outdoor terrace. Take Cindy's Full Tour (2 hours or a bit over)for the most information and the most fun. There was a shutle van from the Jay St. subway station. There's one subway station closer but it was closed for repairs on the day we toured. Buses on Flushing Ave go right there.

Before I went on this tour, I thought that most of the food carts in the city were from the same company because they all seemed to have the same generic pictures on them. It turns out that they all park in the same place and there's a guy that sells them generic looking food pictures! Brian helped us navigate to the best food carts and told us stories about the chefs / people behind them as well as regulations / history of food carts in general! You'll be stuffed with delicious food at the end of it and know so much more to boot!
