I attended Sarah’s more general tour of the Lower East Side in which she showed some the historic landmarks of the area from squat houses to parks that served as hot beds of political activism to new developments in the neighborhood. Sarah is very knowledgeable about the area and it was fun to hear about her past experiences in the art and political scenes in New York. Hearing Sarah’s own experiences and opinions is enough reason to go on the tour, but her background in art just seals the deal for this tour!
To go to New York and not see the beautiful courts and buildings of lower Manhattan would definitely be a loss! Linda not only points out the beauty of these buildings, but also some of the crazy stories of the history of lower Manhattan from farm lands to mob bosses. It is clear Linda is a licensed tour guide as she is prepared with histories and stories of the courts. This tour is a must if you want to hear the history of lower Manhattan and see some beautiful architecture.
I have lived in New York all my life, but Joy opened my eyes to a new Fifth Avenue through her knowledge of history of the area including tales of celebrities, jewels worth millions of dollars and fictional characters such as Eloise at the Plaza. We visited the highlights of the avenue including the Plaza, Tiffany’s and Bergdorf Goodman’s as well as some areas I hadn’t thought to explore. Joy’s enthusiasm for the area is contagious. I definitely recommend going on this tour if you want to see some classic New York!
