I enjoyed a truly delightful evening at the dinner hosted by Robbi and Vesna in their home close to the centre of Ljubljana in mid-May - easy to walk to or take a taxi for a couple of euros. Lots of delicious home-made, home grown food that you just won't get in a restaurant, starting with the garlic leaf soup (interesting and nice), garlic cheese and bread and moving on to the traditional Slovenian sausage with THE best smashed potatoes made from potato, onion and pork fat. And for dessert, the traditional potica cake, with a nice wine and some herbal teas and fruit juice that Vesy makes. Thoroughly recommend this experience to everyone going to Ljubljana for the conversation, the generous amounts of food and drink, the atmosphere (very relaxed, at the table in their kitchen), the cultural experience and the friendship, as the couple are well-travelled and very open to cultural exchanges. In addition, Vesy is a herbalist and has some gorgeous rooms to rent not far out in the countryside for people who want to chill out in a tranquil environment.

Since I had never been to Slovenia before and needed some advice from a local, I booked Vesna for "What to Do in Slovenia." I asked her about some local festivals, transportation, hotels, activities, and restaurants. Vesna promptly answered all of these questions and more. It was money well-spent, since it saved me many hours of research and gave me the confidence to know that I was going to see the best Slovenia had to offer during my vacation. Having now returned from that trip, I can say with confidence that Vesna's expert advice made our trip easier and more memorable.

My wife and I booked the "Slovenian Dishes on the Stage" experience with Vesna. It was an incredible experience. She e-mailed me several days ahead of our dinner to mention the fresh produce she had gathered from her family's garden, to let me know what she planned on cooking, to ask if I had any specific dietary restrictions, and to provide directions to her home. This was my first time using Vayable, so her thoughtful communication really put my my mind at ease. When we arrived for dinner, she greeted my wife and I at the door and made us feel right at home. Vesna and Robery prepared a wonderful five-course meal, all using fresh, local ingredients. They also served us delicious local wine and the best plum brandy I've ever tasted. The meal alone was well worth the price, but the conversation was just as enjoyable. Having a home-cooked meal with Vesna and Robert was a highlight of our trip!

We'd never used Vayable before, so we weren't quite sure if it would live up to the expectations set by the other reviewers. I am happy to report that it exceeded them. Vesna and Robert cooked a wonderful meal featuring seasonal fruits and vegetables, herbs, and meat, all of which were fresh and local. They were charming hosts and excellent conversationalists. This dinner was truly a highlight of a fantastic vacation, and we'll definitely plan on booking some of the other experiences Vesna offers when we come back to Slovenia.

We enjoyed two wonderful experiences with Vesna and Robi. They were warm and welcoming and very knowledgeable about their country - and that included food, wine, and politics! First we spend an entire day in Pliskovica in the Karst region that included a lovely 6K hike on a trail that wound through farmland and vineyards. We stopped for a fabulous lunch at a gastro-farmhouse where we ate our fill of fresh, homemade bread, prosciutto, soup and dumplings. The wine was made on the farm and it was delicious, too. As we walked back through the village, we stopped for a wine tasting and filled our bottles with local wine! The next evening we had dinner at their home.There is nothing like having local people share their city - and in this case, their table. Vesna is an herbalist so the meal featured many fresh herbs and the soup was made from wild asparagus she had picked the day before. Everything was really delicious. We would recommend any of the packages Vesna offers on Vayable.

What a warm welcome to Slovenia this was! It felt like we were visiting good friends -- sharing a home cooked meal right there in the kitchen and talking about life in Slovenia and beyond. Vesna and Robert are wonderful free spirits and we enjoyed our evening immensely!
