Notting Hill Walking and Cycling Tours

with Richard C.

The tours take in all the major film locations, celebrity homes and musical landmarks. Your guide (former BBC reporter Richard Carruthers) lives here and will entertain you with quirky tales of the neighbourhood history. We begin with a beautiful garden featured in the movie 'Notting Hill' before descending Portobello Road's famous market. We parade along Westbourne Grove, favoured by Notting Hill's 'yummy mummies' for it's organic foodstores and designer boutiques. Musical highlights include hangouts of punk band 'The Clash' and the studio Bob Marley, Oasis and Led Zeppelin recorded in. Other highlights include beautiful churches and carnival food stops. The biking tour covers all the above and a wider area from leafy Holland Park to 'Little Morocco' and Goldfinger's Tower on Golborne Road. We also cycle along a forested section of the Grand Union Canal. Bring your own or hire a Barclays Bike from the docking station on Portobello Road.

The walking tour includes Ladbroke Square, St Peter's Church, Portobello Market, Film locations including the Travel Bookstore and Hugh Grant's 'Blue Door', London's oldest cinema the Electric (where notorious 10 Rillington Place serial murderer John Christie was projectionist), Sarm Studios, A French Art Deco store, The Ledbury 2 star Michelin restaurant and celebrity homes including Peter Gabriel, George Orwell and Claudia Schiffer. The cycling tour expands the area covered to Clarendon Cross and the pottery kiln, St John's Church, Trellick Tower and the Grand Union Canal.

The default tour is on foot unless you specifically request the biking tour - for which you should consider bringing a safety helmet and have some experience of cycling on London roads. I have public liability insurance but will not be responsible for accidents and injuries sustained outside my control.
