Taiwan’s hotsprings are one of the benefits of sitting on the Pacific Ring of Fire.
The Ba Yuan hotsprings are located in Yangmingshan National Park, and are the best wild hotsprings in Taiwan.
Boiling hot water flows from the top of the mountain and mixes with fresh water from a nearby stream. Different pools have been made from blistering hot, to comfortably warm, to tepid. A cold stream runs next to the pools.
Be forewarned! It’s a forbidden spring, but will be a highlight of your trip!
Meet at Taipei Main Station and bus to the site. The ride is about an hour long. We'll make a one kilometer walk along a path into the wilderness to the springs. Lounge in the springs for a couple of hours. Return.
It is possible to rent a vehicle (group covers that cost) to do a more scenic route through Yangmingshan National Park. I suggest this option, as the park is beautiful.
