Sintra - a Medieval Journey by Night

A real time travel through the woods and old alleys of old Sintra in this walk 'from Cynthia to Sintra'

Itinerary: Palácio da Vila - a Templar Tunnel - the Princess Cottage - Barn of Jugada - Regaleira Estate - Valley of Angels - Road Pena - A View to Pena Palace - Castle Gregory - Rio da Bica - Old Spring - Church of St. Peter - Garden of the Watch - Church Santa Maria - The 'da Pipa' spring - Jewry - Palácio da Vila

Meeting Point: Palácio da Vila, Sintra at 8 PM
Route: 7 Kms. Difficulty: Easy / Medium. Duration: 3 hours

We will depart from the town center walking towards small discoveries in the Old Village and then we will go out into the interior of sintrenses woods to get near the 'Sacred Palace' (Palácio da Pena), continue then to one of the oldest areas of Sintra, Saint Euphemia, where we get literally astonished with a view from Tagus river mouth, to the north, to Ericeira.
Descending now to the beautiful area of San Pedro de Penaferrim we find out some more little nooks, like the Garden of Vigia (watchout), where we see at the skyline the Pena Palace, and Moorish and Gregory Castles.
We will walk yet to the Church of Santa Maria and time to cross again with the story of Sintra. Return to the Village passing by the clear waters of the Fountain Sabuga and after traversing the jewry and most medieval streets of Sintra.
