Departing from the Circus Maximus, the largest stadium in the ancient Rome, designed for chariot racing (ludi circenses) and other events, we will head to the Aventine hill, one of the seven hills of Rome.
It is considered the “hill of poetry”. Influenced by its peaceful beauty, great poets such as D’Annunzio and Carducci sang of its splendor in their verses. We will visit the Orange Garden, the famous garden filled with orange trees and flowers from where we can admire a breathtaking overview over the Eternal City. We will visit the Basilica of St. Sabina, one of the most ancient churches of Rome, S. Alessio and the so-called “keyhole” of the Aventine hill.
This tour ends at the church of st. Maria in Cosmedin (where the Truth Mouth lies). I will direct you to delicious and authentic Roman food to end our tour right.
