Just take a walk with me as we search for art that is not just found in the street, but actually inside the galleries that are spreading throughout this gritty neighborhood close to Union Square. Be careful what you believe about this area; it is full of surprises. The area's questionable reputation is based on outsiders and not by activities of the actual residents. Yes, there is an active street life, but this vibrant street life is what makes the area actually safer than expected. As in almost every city, the artists have been the pioneers in pushing into what were marginal areas and right behind have come a host of other social and cultural activities. Restaurants are the first to follow and today the burgeoning art scene is joined by an array of adventuresome eating establishments. Clubs have always been central to this area and our art tour will experience that energy that has been created by a vibrant club scene.
