If you'd like to take a detour from the crowded tourist spots of Hollywood; experience the spiritual and humane Hollywood beyond its glitz and glamour… this tour is for you!
I will take you inside the century old Italian Renaissance style Blessed Sacrament Church, built in 1914, one of the most beautiful and historic buildings in Los Angeles. It is home to a 55-rank Casavent Freres organ, and a 9 foot concert grand piano. Their concert series has included all types of performers, from solo pianists, a string quartet, choirs, a jazz combo, and a production of Verdi Requiem with full orchestra and a 200 voice choir.
We will stop by Selma Park, a “pocket park” with children’s playground. During the day it serve as a recreational space for kids who live in the area. At night, you are more likely to witness shady characters being arrested by the cops.
Then we will pass by the #1 non-profit organization for LGBT community, The L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center.
On the way to the Hollywood Farmers Market, which is our final destination, we will see some interesting spots such as:
• Hollywood United States Post Office
• Historic Gilbert Hotel, where “Kramer” the character from the tv sitcom Sienfeld, stayed while he was in LA in the episode "The Trip".
• Who would have thought that a British Piano bar, Cannabis dispensary and Auto Body Shop can co-exist right next door to each other?
• The original Rock 'N Roll Barbershop Floyd's 99. Old school, new style.
