An intensive photo mini-workshop and insider DC tour. I'm a documentary photographer with 20 years' experience shooting for major newspapers and magazines, and I've exhibited widely. As a Washington native I love showing people the real city: the amazing neighborhoods away from the monuments, where people actually work/live/play. Whether with your SLR or your phone camera, I will give you will creative tips and techniques to help you get under the skin of this fascinating and fast-changing city.

Itinerary

We will explore DC's resurgent U Street corridor. From busy 14th and U we will wander east, past old and new establishments and street life that give the area its unique character. Along the way I'll help you take your photographic approach to the next level - composition, photographing people, point of view, mastering your settings, using natural light, etc.

Really good tour, learnt a lot and saw another side of DC. The photographer gave me some useful suggestions on how I could improve my photography, and it was great to be able to put those suggestions into practice straight away. I loved the area of DC we explored during our walk, it was completely different from the DC I had seen during my stay there.

In just 2 hours Bill was able to help with understanding camera issues , give a well informed 'visual tour of the area' , walk with the group while making suggestions on angles, light ,composition and at the same time inspiring us to interact with the people on the street . A great night , many thanks and i will take this experience with me on any future city shoots . Cheers, Scott

...I did the "Real DC Photography Walk" yesterday - it was amazing! Bill is a pro and as such he first of all choose the absolut perfect spot for the tour! He sent an e-mail in advance with very helpful tips and explained what, why, and how he would take certain pictures during the tour! The tour is not so much about technical parts of every individual camera, but more about a new experience in photography. Even though you think you might have an eye for the right scenes it gives you a new perspective. We were furthermore offered to send our best shots to get feed back. I think that is a nice full package experience - great input from a professional photograher at a real authentic spot! mirjam
